Vacation Sleepover

Friday May 8th to Saturday May 9th 2009

Arrival time: 6:45pm

Departure time: 7:00am

Chloe didn't know what to think of me when I walked in, Im not sure
she was too happy to have a stranger talking to her and telling her how
cute her cone head was. But, then I took the cone head off and she was
better. Guerrimo was just happy to be out of his cage and to get some
butt scratches! The cats, of course, didn't care who I was as long as I
got them fed.

I took Chloe and Guerrimo on a little walk which Guerrimo thought
was great and Chloe seemed a little indifferent to. I think she just
wanted to lay on the couch...which we did afterwards.

Guerrimo was good and slept on his bed, only trying once to trick me into letting him on the couch.

I slept in the guest bedroom but both dogs stayed in the living
room. Chloe did come in with me in the morning, I think she was saying
here that she would give in and start to like me :)

I
bribed them to go outside, fed them and left, promising I would be back
for a walk in a few hours. They didn't seem to care much though once
they had their kongs!

We hit the dog social hour today! I was able to come a little earlier
at 12:30, and there were tons of folks out there with their off leash
dogs. All were friendly. There was a Great Dane, a little terrier mix
named Rose, a 5 month old weimeraner named Jenny (I think), a cocker
spaniel looking thing, and of course Elly & Tucker. E&T pretty
much stuck together which was cool - and the others would come visit or
the two of them would run over and visit. There was a lot of ball play.
Tucker is a dirty dirty dirty dog - he rolled around in the leftover
snow to start with, then after playing for a while he decided it would
be a good idea to cool off in a mud puddle. I couldn't get my camera
out quick enough to get a picture of him laying in it! He didn't want
to leave the park when it was time, and looked a little sad when I put
him back in the yard. There is always next week!

Mac got there fine, just a little before two. I asked the woman behind

pose with him too. They take good care of him there.

Nero gave a little bark when I came in the back
door, but was all wiggles when I let him out of the crate. We went right
outside, and he peed right away, got a good boy and piece of kibble. He also
pooed after a while. We got aquainted in the backyard for about 10 minutes. I
sat on a chair and let him come to me, he jumped up a bit. When he jumped I
turned my head and ignored him, and gave him a good boy, and pets only when he
had four paws on the floor. What a little cutie though, it is so hard to resist
scratching his back when he jumps up!! After a while I got out the harness, I
figure it is best to use that - not sure where you are in your leash training,
but probably just at the beginning stages. If y'all are working on anything in
particular - let me know I can reinforce it as well. I borrowed your clicker and
used the kibble in the bowl, and clicked him for sits, he was very good! I am
afraid by our time was over, I used all of the kibble, hope it wasn't his entire
dinner. He likes to put the leash in his mouth, so I gave him some kibbles for
dropping it and distracted him enough not to play with it while we were walking.
The cutest thing was, we saw some crows, and he immediately went into pointer
mode - he was staring and could not be distracted with treats or my voice. He
did sit, and then he lifted up his right paw and pawed the air at them. Amazing!
A lady was watching all of this unfold from her front porch, she said something
to us, and we took the opportunity to practice a nice greeting with her. I gave
her some kibble to reward him with. He jumped up on her at first, then I asked
if she would ask him to sit, she did, and he did, and we all rejoiced. Then we
started walking down the street towards the little park, another lady was
walking towards us. She asked if he was a pointer, and I took the opportunity to
ask her to give him kibbles for sits. She said "what do you want him to be
friendly towards people or something?", I said "yes!". He sat very well for her,
and did not jump on her as much as the last lady. They were very nice to do that
for us. We made it to the park finally and played with the leaves, which was
very exciting. He took up his leash a couple of times, but I distracted him, or
traded it for a kibble. We found the COOLEST toy ever, an old mountain dew
bottle that makes a crinkly sound. Once I showed him the crinkly sound, he
became obsessed with it. I used it to practice some sits, and it was a great
distraction around the crows on the way home. When we got back to the house I
let him play with it in the backyard, he did not want me to take away his new
toy, I sat on the chair and waited til he brought it too me. We then played some
games with it, and I used it to lure him up the stairs and into the house. I
left it in the cabinet for you, in case you want to use it again. Might be
better to get a newer model. Anyway, great visit!

were chillin' together in the window. Upon opening the door Bombay
rushed up to meet me, and stretched out on his back for a good rub.
Looks like somebody has been eating the houseplants, there was some
green spit up on the floor. Sapphire was waiting downstairs on the
windowsill gave her a good ear and chin scratch. Gave them their treat
and scooped the box, topped of their water fountain and food. I had to
play with Sapphire still in her perch, but once I brought the toy up
to where she was she had a nice time while Bombay watched on. Then
Bombay and I had a game of our own. Today they were a little lazy
again.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello,
My visit with Ajax went well. I went later than usual because it was
very hot out and wanted to water when it had cooled. Ajax ate well and
he got a lot of attention from me. He decided to come outside and
visit, which was really nice and cool by this time. He seemed to be
relaxed and happy to have company. Plus he is great company. The
plants are doing well and I put the trash and recycling out on the
curb. I hope it cools down just a little
bit.
