Mattie was incredibly excited to go on her walk today so we didn't waste any time and headed straight out the door. It was a hot walk in the sunshine and we stopped for sniffs and pictures in shady corners. We encountered some dead-ends and unconnected streets so we had to backtrack a couple of times. On our arrival home, while Mattie was slurping water (she finished an entire bowl: it was empty when I arrived, she drained my refill and I left it full), I discovered the reason for her thirst on the rug by the television. I did the best I could to clean it up with water and paper towels (I couldn't find any cleaning products suitable for doggy disasters and rugs and unfortunately I was unequipped). Mattie had also chewed some more on the blinds, slightly nicking her nose on the metal. I also noticed a small scratch on the wall by the door.

Mattie was talking to me so much when I arrived, telling me hello and to hurry up, that I completely forgot to take my camera on the walk! Instead we had a photo shoot in front of the house on our return. Mattie is learning to sit at the curb before crossing the street and we also worked on sitting and waiting before leaving and entering the house. Mattie enjoyed the sunshine and the smells and wagged "Hello" at everyone we passed. She even sat nicely for a friendly man.

Mattie was sweet today, wanting to visit with everyone and their mother again. Anna was with me today and got to meet her for the first time. Mattie jumped a little as a greeting, but we showed Anna how she sits really really well. Mattie also had a really nice long roll on somebody's shady front yard grass for no apparent reason, I am sure it smelled nice.

Mattie wanted to visit today with every animal, kid, plant, and human on earth! We weren't close enough to anyone to actually visit, so we just admired from afar. There is a Boston Terrier around the corner named Einstein, she really wants to get to know him. Good walk.

Mattie was very cute today. We passed by the usual jumping corgi in the window up the street, and then she had a nice roll in something smelly in the grass. We got to the top of the hill and she heard someone playing guitar and singing off key, she had to stop and listen - the pictures are of that moment. She also wanted to visit with every human she saw. There was a guy working on his car, and I didn't let her go over, then we saw a guy sitting on his steps after a bike ride. I asked his permission to say hi, he said yes, and she got a really good back scratch from him. It turns out he has a daughter named Mattie as well.
